"600 Feet of Climbing Pleasure: The Famous Dunn's River Falls in Jamaica"

600 Feet of Climbing Pleasure: The Famous Dunn's River Falls in Jamaica

As you are planning your trip to Jamaica, I am sure you are trying to decide what attractions you should visit. Honestly, there are many to choose from. One of the most long standing and popular attractions is Jamaica Dunn's River Falls. Dunn's River Falls is located in Ocho Rios, Jamaica and is explained by saying it is "600 feet of climbing pleasure".

Thousands of visitors visit Dunn's River Falls every year. The actual falls are an amazing display of nature. The miniature dome-shaped waterfalls are constantly flowing and dispensing into the Caribbean Sea. Visitors climb the falls and enjoy hanging out in one of the several lagoons or pools along the way.

When you travel up the falls, you will be accompanied by a guide helping you along the way. For example they will tell you where to step to safely climb the falls. To climb Dunns Falls you will have to wear sneakers or water shoes to make sure you have a good grip on the stones when climbing. At the base of the falls is a beach for those who would rather relax in the ocean versus climbing the falls.

In addition to the waterfalls, the area has attractions such as live music, craft markets, restaurant, and an area for special occasions like weddings or family reunions. The restaurant has a wide variety of food from pork or fish, spicy jerk chicken and curried goat as well as some traditional snacks. In addition there are several outdoor grills in the picnic area if you would like to bring your food as well.

Over the years, they've continued to build the area around the falls to make it easier and more accessible for visitors to enjoy the attraction. Many believe that the falls were "created" for tourist to climb, but it is all very natural and made by the actual current of the water.

The rates or entrance fee for Dunn's River Falls is US$15 for adults and US$12 for children (2-11 years old. There are many ways to get to Dunns River if you are not staying in a resort in Ocho Rios. One way is with a large group tour bus, this can most commonly be arranged through the resort you are staying at. Another option is to hire a private driver/tour guide to take you and your family. Although this may cost more than the group travel, with the private driver/tour guide you can stay as long or as little as you would like as well as make any additional stops along the way.

If you are making a trip to Jamaica, make sure to put Dunn's River Falls on your list of places to see, it is always on the top of the list of the world's most gorgeous waterfalls.

7 Quick Steps To Travel Bed Bug Free

7 Quick Steps To Travel Bed Bug Free You're so excited to get to your destination. You've planned this trip down to a "t" and then you hear about the problems with hotel bed bugs. Don't worry this article will explain what to do about these pesky little guys. So you have your destination all picked out, your hotel reserved and you hear that bed bugs have been an issue at hotels across the country. We're not talking about lower end hotels either. Some of the high end hotels have had problems. Not to worry my friend, just follow a few easy steps and the possibility of these creepy travelers ruining your trip very is minimal. Being proactive is the key here and this article will explain how to avoid bed bugs, what to do if you encounter them and how to avoid bringing them home with you. 7 Steps To A Bug Free Hotel Stay 1. Use the luggage rack 2. Inspect the bed 3. Inspect the drapes 4. Inspect the furniture 5. Wash laundry before returning home 6. Treat suitcase 7. Store suitcase away from bedroom Step 1 - Use that darn luggage rack. The first thing to do after entering the room is pull out the metal luggage rack and set you luggage down on it. Just in case there are bed bugs in the room, the last thing you want to do is throw your luggage on the bed, let them get in your luggage and take them with you! Step 2 - Look before you leap. Sure is tempting top jump on that bed after a few hours traveling, but take a minute and do a quick inspection. Pull back the bedspread and pillows and sheets and look for bed bugs or signs of their presence as you go. Step 3 - Check out those window treatments Often bed bugs will be found on the drapes, so give them a very thorough looking over. Pay close attention to the seams, since this is where they will hide. Step 4 - Look how they furnished the room Furniture is a favorite with the uninvited guests we're talking about so give all the furniture a good looking over. Pull the drawers and look at the cracks. Pull up a seat cushion or two and look there as well. Step 5 - Didn't your mother tell you not to pick up hitchhikers? Bed bugs are notorious hitchhikers and will often "hitch a ride" on your clothing and luggage. Stop at a Laundromat on the way home and wash your clothes in hot water, if possible and dry on high heat for at least 20 min. Step 6 - Clean your luggage before putting it away. Before you store your luggage, wipe it down with alcohol or use a non-toxic bed bug spray to kill any bugs left behind. Step 7 - Don't put your luggage under the bed. Store your luggage in the garage or basement or as far away from your room and bed as possible. Just in case you brought home an unwanted guest you missed. Following these steps will help you avoid any hotel bed bugs and travel with greater peace of mind. Enjoy your trip! contributed by Matt Abney

"7 Tips on How You Can Turn A Long Flight Into A Comfortable Trip"

7 Tips on How You Can Turn A Long Flight Into A Comfortable Trip

Some travelers are uncomfortable thinking about taking a long flight. Whether you choose to fly on a charter plane or on the economy class of a commercial airline, long trips do not have to be uncomfortable. The following tips can help you turn your long flight into a comfortable one:

Utilize the pillows given to you

Oftentimes, airline companies give pillows to passengers during long flights. To help prevent or ease back pains, you can put one of the pillows in between the back rest of your seat and your lower back. The pillow can also provide support for your neck during the flight. Scrunch it so that it will be more comfortable for your neck.

Do stretches occasionally

Your muscles tend to become sore and cramped when they are left immobile for a long time. You can avoid this discomfort by stretching or flexing your muscles from time to time. You can twist your torso slowly by keeping your hand fixed on the armrest. Also, when you are allowed to take your seat belt off, you can take a walk down the aircraft aisle to stretch your legs. Also, rotating your ankle in semi-circles can help ease the discomfort caused by swollen feet. This will help improve blood circulation. You could also occasionally flex and extend your feet.

Apply moisturizer if your skin is dry

Long-lasting moisturizing creams or petroleum jelly is advisable for travelers who have dry skin. Light moisturizers will not be able to stay long on your skin because of the dryness of the air inside the aircraft. Don't forget to moisturize your legs if you are wearing leggings, stockings or tight pants because they may become itchy if they dry out.

Bring along chewing gum

Air pressure changes during flight will cause your ear to pop and you can avoid this discomfort by chewing some gum. Air pressure changes are possible during the flight as well as during take-off or landing. Mint-flavored gum will also be soothing for you during the flight.

Put on slip-on footwear

Your feet may swell during the flight and so you might want to remove your footwear. It will be better if you choose footwear that you can easily wear and remove.

Bring along your pain medication if you have broken bones

Make sure you have pain medication prescribed from your doctor if you have a broken bone or any injuries. You will feel extreme pain on your broken bones during the compression that happens in-flight.

Consider charter flights

Charter planes offer more personalized service to meet the needs of their customers. The plane staff will focus their attention on you and make sure you are comfortable and safe. Traveling by charter plane means that you reserve the whole plane; therefore, you do not have to worry about the other passengers or about your baggage. This will let you kick back and enjoy the trip.

You can make the most out of your flight and avoid any discomforts by making the necessary preparations.

"7 Great Places to Visit in Europe"

7 Great Places to Visit in Europe

I think nothing can ever beat Europe when it comes to vacation. It is one of the most luxurious countries to visit and there are also so many things to do there and breathtaking sights to discover. Because it is quite expensive to be in Europe, not everyone has the chance to go there.
But there is no reason to stop from dreaming because who knows one day an opportunity will knock and you will be flying to Europe before you know it. So if you are interested to know what some of the best places to visit are:

1. Eiffel Tower
They say that your trip to Europe will never be complete if you have not seen this famous landmark. You can also enjoy the view of Paris on top of this tower. But if you are afraid of heights then better think twice because it stands 948 feet from the ground and one of the tallest structures in the world.

2. Acropolis
If history is in your blood then this place is a must see. It is found in Athens and here you can see ancient ruins and buildings. You can also get to experience Athens here.

3. Tower Bridge
This bridge was almost designed to perfection. You can enjoy the great view of London from here. It does not matter whether you visit this place at daytime or evening because you can still catch a glimpse of the amazing view it has to offer.

4. Buckingham Palace
Everyone must have already heard about this because it is the home of British royalty. It is said that in August and September you can even get the chance to see the State Rooms of Buckingham and what is inside.

5. The Roman Coliseum
This used to be an amphitheater that was huge enough to cater over 50,000 people. Here, you can find magnificent ancient architecture.

6. Big Ben
Do not ever miss to take a picture of yourself at the Big Ben. It is also one of the famous sites in London. Other people who can see your photo will immediately know that you have been to London.

7. Edinburgh Castle
If you are a fan of fairy tales then it is time to take fantasy into reality and see up close what a castle really is like. There are a lot of tourists who come here to visit every year.

These are only some of the best places that you can visit in Europe. Just remember every penny that you spend is worth all the fun and excitement that you experience.

"Six Enjoyable Activities You Can Do On A Long Flight"

Six Enjoyable Activities You Can Do On A Long Flight

If you want to make a long flight enjoyable, you can bring your mp4 player with you, play an interactive electronic game during the first few hours of the flight, bring a pack of cards, do something relaxing towards the middle of the flight, do a stimulating activity towards the end of the flight, or you can simply choose to fly by charter plane.

A long fight route can prove to be of extreme tiredness. You may find that you do nothing and are bored and anxious as times passes even on charter flights. If you, however, take your distant flight well prepared, it might be a enjoyable experience. Here are several suggestions that can help you have fun on a long flight:

Take along your mp4 player

Take along mp4 players let you keep and play back different media. If you have an mp4 player, you can take it along with you on the flight. With this, your entertainment is just an arm's reach away. Remember to fetch your headphones and be sure to save as many movies as you can ahead of time. Besides viewing movies, you can listen to the music that you love whenever you feel you need a break.

The beginning of a flight is a good time to involve yourself in an interactive electronic game

Most people feel very energetic for the first several hours when beginning a journey. Because of this, something requiring concentration like a hand-held video game may interest you. Have your laptop loaded with some engrossing game before you bring it along. You can also play with a hand-held gaming console during the trip.

A pack of cards may be brought

You can enjoy hours of fun without power and flashing lights with a simple deck of cards. You can play solitaire on your own using the folding tray in front of your seat. You could always ask the person next to you to come along. Creative wagers have the benefit of making things more interesting.

Do something relaxing towards the middle of the flight

You tend to have a problem staying focused towards the midpoint of your journey Try to do something restful that will help you to sleep. Reading a book is a great idea if it will help you fall asleep Also you can listen to relaxing tunes or hear a book because some people have a tendency to go to sleep hearing other people's voice.

Do a stimulating activity towards the end of the flight

It is very useful if you feel young and energetic even at the end of a flight, so not to become shaky or unfocused as you get off the plane. Reading a book or magazine, can provide you with the right stimulation for your brain. You might take along some work to occupy yourself.
Simply choose to fly by charter plane

If you choose to fly by charter plane you can be sure you will experience the utmost comfort and privacy. Unlike other commercial airlines, charter planes serve more airports thus can save you time and make things more convenient for you. For example, using while accompanying your business associates, a private meeting can easily be held without the worry of others on board.

With a little creativity and resourcefulness, you can make long flights into memorable and enjoyable experiences.

"10 Uses For A Kikoy"

10 Uses For A Kikoy

Summer is here, colours are in, and boho chic is back. Never has there been a better time to own a kikoy. Kikoys are traditional handwoven garments from East Africa, with a splash of colour and style added in to every design. Starting with the most traditional uses and moving into funky new trends, here are ten completley different ways to use a kikoy.

1. The Swimsuit Wrap

Worn like a sarong, kikoys look fabulous draped around the waist or tied above the bust. It's the perfect look for a day at the beach or for a casual summer night out.

2. The Towel

Unlike other types of beach wraps, this African version of a sarong is made of a thick fabric that effectively absorbs water to really dry you off after a swim in the sea.

3. The Scarf

With an array of vibrant colours to choose from, why not use a kikoy to accessorize an otherwise plain outfit?

4. The Baby-Carrier

Sling your little one into a stylish and secure kikoy pouch. It's cool, it's comfortable, and all the celebrities are doing it.

5. The Picnic Blanket

Enjoy some wine and cheese on a beautiful, easy-to-wash Kikoy the next time you go for an outing in the park.

6. The Curtain

When enjoying the warmth of the sun but it is just too bright to focus, try pinning a Kikoy to an open doorway to provide some shade.

7. The Tablecloth

Patio furniture looking a little rusty? Dining table all scratched up? Why not throw a Kikoy over the table top and add a little extra culture to your culinary craftsmanship.

8. The Hammock

For a comfortable catnap, tie the ends of a large Tonkei Kikoy to a tree and swing yourself to sleep. It's a great alternative to carrying your mattress around with you!

9. The Pillow

Need a snooze but have nowhere to rest your head? Bunch up a Laylani Soft Kikoy and enjoy a well-deserved break.

10. The Urban Turban

When the sun is too hot or you're simply feeling fashionably adventurous, you can wrap a fabulously fun Kikoy around the head and march to the beat of your own drum.

It is clear that there are no limits to the way a kikoy can be worn. And best of all one can be any age, size, or gender and still make it work. Practical and funky, a kikoy is the perfect accessory for this summer's wardrobe.

"Luggage 101"

Luggage 101
Copyright © 2011 Bilal Chowder

The first thing that a person needs to travel is good luggage. There was a time when luggage was meant to be a burden, and it was huge and heavy with no guarantee for safety. But gone are those days, nowadays it has become compact and smart to be moved with maximum security and comfort during travel.

They include travel bags, suitcases, handbags, leather bags, back-packs, hiking carry bags and tote bags, they not only help in carrying your stuff, but also in style.

Luggage bags make us feel more at ease to carry our things. There is luggage which can carry a lot, but actually look very small, and there is also luggage that has a lot of compartments in them to help us find what we want among our things easily.

Traveling to a far place, like for a trip, will mean that the amount of clothes and other stuff that is to be carried will be more, and it will be very hard to carry them as luggage. But with the use of luggage that come with wheels and extended holders it will be easy and comfortable to move with the bags.

"Planning a Family Road Trip Vacation to Mexico"

Family Vacation to Mexico

Taking a family vacation to Mexico is a great way to spend quality time bonding with your children. A vacation to Mexico will provide opportunities for your kids to see exotic locations and experience different cultures. Fishing, hanging out on the beach, witnessing beautiful mountain and desert scenery, as well as Spanish colonial sites are just a few of the learning opportunities available. Travel is a great way to get kids excited about history, geography and culture since first hand experience is always superior to sitting in a classroom.

There's not much planning required to travel with your children to Mexico. You will want to make sure that you have all your kids passports in order if you are planning on traveling farther than the free zone.

You will need the normal car paperwork, including vehicle registration and Mexican car insurance. When you are traveling with kids, it is best to prepare so that you will not have to stop at the border longer than is absolutely necessary. It is not a fun place for kids, much less adults. In order to make this less stressful for everyone, buy your Mexican car insurance online before you leave and print out the paperwork to show the guards at the border. This will save you time, and make your family vacation much more enjoyable.

Choose a destination that is kid friendly. Baja has many great destinations for families. For example, Cabo San Lucas is known for its family friendly vibe. The resort Dreams offers many activities and camps for kids, as do other hotels in town. Other family friendly resorts include the Grand Baja, the Pueblo Bonita Rose, Pueblo Bonita Los Cabos, and the Villa La Estrancia. The beaches in Baja are great for kids.

There are many exciting cultural experiences in Baja as well that are great for kids to experience. Todos Santos, "Pueblo Magico" is quaint colonial city founded in 1724. There is a cultural center and museum and many historical buildings. Art galleries, fantastic beaches, and a wide array of tourist services make this a great place to spend a family vacation. Todos Santos is located north of Cabo san Lucas on the Pacific side of Baja. The town is backed by the majestic Sierra Laguna mountain range, so a trip to the mountains is possible during the day to see wildlife, quaint villages, and panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean.

"What To Bring On Your First Caribbean Trip"

What To Bring On Your First Caribbean Trip

If you are planning a trip to the Caribbean, you are probably very excited about your trip.

Whether you are going to Belize, Bahamas, Fiji, Turks and Caicos, Bermuda, or any other island in the area, you will surely have a grand time with all the stunning beaches and amazing attractions sprawled all over. Proper planning and preparation are necessary to ensure that you will have a smooth journey. One of the things that you need to prepare for will be the things that you should bring on the trip. Below, you will find a list of all the important items that you cannot do without for your trip to the Caribbean, such as short term health insurance.

Personal Clothing and Supplies

Of course, you have to bring your personal supplies such as clothing, shoes, toiletries, and so on. Most first-time travelers make the mistake of bringing too much or too little for the trip. When this happens, they would still need to buy new things and spend more than what they should, which they could have avoided if only they packed properly. To avoid this scenario, create a checklist of all the things that you need to bring. Clothes will typically include shirts, sundresses, skirts, pants, shorts, and other clothes ideal for the warm weather in the Caribbean. As for supplies, you will need to bring your deodorant, toothpaste, shampoo, hairbrush, and other basic necessities. You do not have to bring those things that would be provided in the hotel to save space on your luggage. This is unless you have your own brand that you prefer.

Summer Gear

Since the Caribbean islands are all about beach trips, you need to bring the right summer gear to make your trip worthwhile. For one, you need to bring a sunscreen with high sun protection factor. Choose one that is waterproof and has protection against UVA and UVB rays. You should also bring a wide-brimmed hat to protect your face from intense heat and a pair of sunglasses of UV protection to protect your eyes.

Important Documents

Allot sufficient time before the trip for the processing and organization of your travel documents including passport, visa, airline tickets, hotel bookings, visitors insurance, and other small items.
See to it that your passport's expiration date is not within 3 months during your travel. If you are in need of visa, you should apply for it in the local consulate in your area at least 3 months before your departure.

There are different types of visitors insurance so you have to study about this to make the right decision, for instance, if you are only traveling for a few days a short term health insurance would be apt. Short term health insurance provides financial protection against health problems that you may have during your vacation.

Electronics

You cannot have a Caribbean trip without a camera. Capture all of the sights and moments so you can relish the memorable vacation anytime you want by enjoying the photographs and videos of your trip. Do not forget to bring other electronics that would enhance your trip such as MP4 player to listen to music while you are lying on the beach, laptop for your emailing needs, and GPS so you always know where you are heading to.

If you follow up this tips you will have a great vacations time and will enjoy every single moment with your loved ones.
